University for Seniors
“AlQods”, a talk by Leila Al Amad Bissat as part of Palestine Week at AUB, was organized by the University for Seniors. Leila, an AUB alumni trustee since 2020, and a travel writer who has published two travel diaries. Her father, a Jerusalemite, was studying in Beirut during the Nakba and had to remain there. Her father’s side of the family still lives in Jerusalem.
The talk reflected strong feelings of yearning and memories eloquently presented by Leila who had the opportunity to visit Al Qods. Leila shared vintage photos of the old city, the Church of Resurrection, the Aqsa Mosque, the family house and beautiful surroundings, all of which are heartfelt representatives of the Holiest City on Earth.
