Welcome to your brand new site at American University of Beirut Sites.

This is a WordPress website. WordPress is a content management system, and it is very easy and powerful way to manage your website without having to be a coding geek!

To get started, log in to the dashboard to manage your website. The dashboard is your first place to go to edit anything! It is the place where you can add and delete content, apply themes, and install plugins that can help you build your website, add features to it, and make it look as great as you want it to be.

This box is an explanatory post that you can find under Posts in the dashboard.

The whole page is a sample page that you can manage under Pages in the dashboard.

To easily manage and structure a page it is advisable to install a page-builder plugin such as Divi Builder under Plugins in the dashboard, that’s why it is activated by default, but you can feel to remove it if needed. Many plugins are provided by AUB to you for free and they should be enough to get you going.

You can apply themes under Themes to easily change the website’s appearance. There are many themes provide by AUB to you for free, feel free to apply any of them.

Finally, once you create multiple pages, you will need a navigation menu to navigate between the pages. You can manage it from here.

You can add as many posts, pages, and plugins as you like, and you will be able to fully customize your website once you get familiar with WordPress and its dashboard, so be patient and explore the dashboard!

Divi Builder come with a great feature that allows you to visually build your page without having to go to the dashboard. To enable this feature:

  1. Follow this link
  2. Select “A static page” instead of “Your latest posts”
  3. Set Front Page to “Sample Page”
  4. Save your changes. Once you do this, this post will disappear as you have set your website to display a static page that is “Sample Page”. You find this post under Posts.
  5. When you go back to the front page (not the dashboard), you will find a new option at the top of the page that says “Enable Visual Builder”. Press on it to start visually editing your page.

Happy Customizing & Exploring 🙂
