Watch this video to understand how mental health affects employees and the workplace…
Working in a safe and healthy environment is a universal right that should be available for everyone. Specifically, the workplace should provide an environment that promotes positive wellbeing which is why our study aims to tackle the relationship between workplace and mental health.
Employees from different companies and countries were surveyed, answering the below questions:
- Does a person’s family history have an impact on their mental health problems at work?
- What are the significant factors that lead employees to seek treatment?
- What are the solutions for a mental health problem at workplace?
The dataset utilized contains 25 variables, with information related to the employee, mental health background, information about the workplace along with some of their perspective and views towards therapy, and below our major and interesting findings:
- 60% of people with mental illness are willing to seek help
- 79% of companies do not have a proper plan for mental health awareness
- 60% of employees hesitate to discuss issues with their manager
- 70% of employees who work from office do not want to seek help
By deploying a dashboard based on this data we are able to visualize emerging patterns in the workplace related to mental health, and thus obtain a more comprehensive understanding of implementing a preventive as well as a corrective action plan for the company as a whole.
To conclude, companies should always prioritize mental health of their employees, by investing in well-being programs, creating a healthy and productive environment, providing trainings for managers to process difficult situations, having an in-house counseling and therapy, and finally offering comprehensive health insurance packages that cover mental illness cases.
