Pediatrics hematology/oncology research

Current clinical research projects aim at better understanding the characteristics and outcome of pediatric cancers in Lebanon, development of local infrastructure for pediatric cancer research, and development of local and regional collaborative networks, with implementation research into better diagnosis, treatment, and outcome for children with cancer in Lebanon and the region.

Ongoing pediatrics oncology hematology research projects include:

• Adapted frontline therapy for childhood ALL (Phase III clinical trial)
• Molecularly Targeted Therapy for recurrent solid tumors (Phase II clinical trial)
• Multiple retrospective clinical studies into characteristics and outcome of specific childhood tumors in Lebanon, as well as treatment approaches and complications
• Development of collaborative pediatric oncology programs and implementation research in Lebanon and the region: Projects aim at disseminating and implementing standard-of-care protocols, training, and better access to care for pediatric oncology patients in the region
