Will I need to do homework outside class hours?

The workshop is structured such that you should be able to do your work within the workshop hours. However, if you wish to continue working you are welcome to do so. Every Monday we will review your work of the previous week. 

 

Is this a gaming design course?

While we will introduce the basic ideas of game design, the course is not a game development course. The course is designed to prepare you for design thinking and to develop skills that explore how games engage participants in the design of cities.

How is the workshop structured?

The workshop is split into 4 stages divided along 4 weeks. The first week will kick off with gaming sessions in Minecraft. The next three weeks will be  focused on architectural explorations with a focus on design theory.

Do I need to buy software?

No you do not need to buy any software.  However, you do need  a laptop that can run the software. We will be running on trial software. If you still want to buy the software feel free to do so.

Do I need to know gaming to join the workshop?

No. In the first week of the workshop we will teach you how to play in the Minecraft creative mode. We have experienced gamers on board!

When are admission decisions made?

Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis. Applicants will be notified of decisions by email. Tuition is due upon admission to the program.
