Research
Our lab conducts epidemiological and translational research on injury, including road traffic injuries, burns, drowning, poisoning and war related trauma across various populations such as children, older adults, and displaced or refugee groups in humanitarian settings. Our primary goal is to advance our understanding of the theory and practice of injury prevention to reduce the burden of injury locally and regionally. We adopted empirical methods to collect primary injury data at the national level is vital to generate scientifically rigorous evidence that can be translated into strategic and context-sensitive injury interventions and safety programs relevant to Lebanon and the EMR. These methods include administering community-based survey and merging multiple sources of secondary data (i.e. police reports, hospital records, school injury incidents, insurance companies closed claims).
