The Competition

In October 2018, GCNL will launch its very first SDG Milestones ceremony with the aim to recognize and highlight the outstanding efforts of Lebanese businesses and organizations that are adopting and implementing the advancement of the agenda 2030 in Lebanon.


The Pioneer ceremony will bring together members from our network to showcase the biggest achievements of their companies involving CSR initiatives and their advancements towards achieving the 17 SDGs, the 10 principles of the UNGC and the agenda 2030.

In total 5 companies and businesses working on the SDGs in Lebanon will be rewarded.

The awards will be based on the 5 Ps of development:

Frequently Asked Questions

Will all the categories be judged by the same judging panel?

Yes an expert Jury panel of 4 members will meet to judge all the submitted applications. All the jury members are impartial and neutral and are not part of the network. These jury members are selected out of high level stakeholders engaged in SDG implementation in Lebanon.

Can I submit an entry to more than one category?

One entry per company will be accepted.

What is the prize?

Shortlisted finalists will be recognized for their achievements and will be invited to participate in our next Event.

A trophy of recognition will be awarded to the 5 winners

Will my submission be recognized even if I don’t win?

Yes every contribution and submission towards achieving the SDGs is very valuable and will be recognized and showcased. All submissions will be featured on all our communication and reports.

Is there an application fee to join the SDG Awards?

No it is free if you are a member of the Global Compact Network Lebanon. If you are not a member, you will need to join the GCNL.  For more information Kindly contact us on gcnl@aub.edu.lb

Who can apply?

Any Lebanese business or organization in the private or public sector member of the GCNL Network can apply. We want to recognize efforts of all Lebanese organizations, including those of non-profits and NGOs.

Launched in July 2000, the UN Global Compact (UNGC) is a leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible and sustainable corporate policies and practices. Endorsed by chief executives around the globe , it seeks to align business operations and strategies everywhere with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

Launched in September 2015, Global Compact Network Lebanon (GCNL) works closely with the United Nations Global Compact Headquarters to provide opportunities for learning, policy dialogue, and partnership on the Ten Principles and UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Lebanon.

Global Compact Network Lebanon is a multi-stakeholder initiative that:

  • Promotes the UN Global Compact Ten principles and the 17 SDGs throughout the Lebanese business and non- business community
  • Provides signatories with a forum to advance issues of mutual interest and concern
  • Support participants to report on their progress in sustainability and social responsibility through their Communication on Progress (COP) or Communication on Engagement (COE)
  • Hosts events and projects to advance the 17 SDGs and UNGC 10 Principles locally
