Research Projects
Injury in Lebanon and the Eastern Mediterranean Region
Injury is a major yet neglected public health problem in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Our Lab is conducting multiple ongoing research focusing on understanding the burden of injury in the Eastern Mediterranean region and aiming at closing the knowledge gap and providing data-driven evidence for effective injury interventions.
Child Injury
Our researchers conducted multiple studies to assess the status of children in Lebanon and the Middle East and North African Region.
Traumatic Brain Injury
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) represents one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR). We have examined the literature on TBI in the EMR and assessed its main characteristics, mechanisms and rick factors.
Road Traffic Injury
The Eastern Mediterranean Region suffers disproportionately from paediatric traffic-related injuries.
Violence Injury
Violence and disasters (nature or man-made) generate massive destruction and create humanitarian settings that necessitate urgent interventions to alleviate their impacts on local populations. We conducted several studies that systematically assess the impact of disasters (i.e., Beirut Blast) and Violence (war and conflicts) on the population and local healthcare systems.

Injuries in Humanitarian Settings
Vulnerable populations living in dire living conditions are prone to elevated risks of injuries and associated morbidity and mortality. We have conducted several studies to explore injury and access to healthcare services among vulnerable communities in humanitarian settings across Lebanon.
