This year, we proudly celebrated Reine Obied as the first trainee to successfully defend her thesis, titled “Exploring the Triad: Mental Health, Substance Use, and Injury Occurrences Among Young Adults in Lebanon.”
Reine’s thesis was supervised by Dr. Lilian Ghandour and examined by Dr. Hani Mowafi and Dr. Samar Al-Hajj, co-directors of MENA PAIR. Her research offers critical insights into how mental health challenges and substance use intersect with injury risk among young adults, highlighting the urgent need for integrated public health responses, particularly in resource-limited settings like Lebanon.
In recognition of her outstanding academic performance and contributions to public health, Reine Obied received the AUB MS Graduate Academic Achievement Award and was selected for induction into the Gamma Delta Chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health.
Congratulations to Reine on these remarkable achievements!
