Dr. Samar Al-Hajj was recognized as a top researcher for her impactful work on injury prevention and safety in Lebanon and the Eastern Mediterranean region (EMR) in August 2022. In an interview with the Researcher, a notable OSB-AUB initiative, she highlighted the alarming rate of pediatric injuries and deaths in the region, specifically due to road traffic accidents and conflicts, and the effects of COVID-19 lockdowns and economic crises on injury rates. Dr. Al-Hajj also shared insights from her ongoing study of physical injuries sustained by Beirut blast victims in 2020.
