Graphic Design, Planning & Production

Nour is currently a 23 year old senior student at the American University of Beirut.  After completing two years of Graphic Design, she decided to transfer and pursue her studies in Chemical Engineering. She is highly interested in the domain of pharmaceuticals and water treatment, specifically  finding ways to cure more diseases with minimal side effects.

For the second consecutive year, she is the graphic designer of AIChE and a social media assistant in IBDAA, where she can combine both her passions for graphic design and chemical engineering! She has an inexplicable love for music and astronomy. She also enjoys traveling and is currently learning Spanish. Freshly introduced to sustainability, she believes that this important, yet underestimated world, can impact positively our world.

"Let’s talk sustainability and let’s make the Earth a better place one step at a time, for us and for future generations!"

Paolo Jr. Mrad
Planning & Production

Paolo is a student at the American University of Beirut studying to become a chemical engineer. Throughout his academic journey, his passion for sustainability, optimization and the feasibility of developing greener, more efficient media had been significantly cultivated and further stimulated by his ever-growing passion in aiding Lebanon on its path to recovery.

Under the tutelage of Dr. Alissar Yehya, he has devised the prototype of a home-biodigester used to turn household organic waste into cooking gas nicknamed “HoBi”, which simultaneously provides a free source of biogas to users and caters to the emerging practice of house gardening throughout the quarantine. Given that more and more people are growing their own food, the generation of substantial amounts of organic residue, which can serve as fuel for the digester to generate methane gas, is at an all-time-high.

Nathalie Chahrour is a 22 year old and  3rd year student at the American University of Beirut. After two years of Graphic Design, she discovered her love for recycling and sustainability. Therefore, she decided to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering and grew fond of the sustainability, following a zero-waste lifestyle and pharmaceuticals.

A very sociable and active person, she is currently the Co-Team Leader of the International Biodiversity Day at AUB 2021. She aimed to go zero waste in 2019, when she noticed how much of a waste was created from beauty products, toiletries and food.

She believes that no matter how little my impact can be, over the years the effect is cumulative. Adapting a zero-waste lifestyle changed her perspective and made her a happier person because she is saving the environment, earth, my home. She joined SEnLi to encourage others to adapt a sustainable lifestyle and change their culture.

Elham is a third and final year Chemical Engineering student. An environmentalist by heart, she intends to pursue a Master’s degree in environmental engineering and build a career in renewable energy.

Throughout her years at AUB, she has developed a strong understanding of the calamitous problems that have been on the rise due to our unsustainable practices. She has studied the effect of climate change on algal blooms and water quality, the effect of the meat industry on the environment, and taken an Introduction to Sustainability course.

She believes that the world is at its capacity (if not past), and it’s our role as a generation to raise awareness about the consequences of the world’s collective actions. She glad to have joined this project and is looking forward to working with like-minded individuals to promote sustainability on both engineering and personal level

Khaled is a final year chemical engineering student at the American University of Beirut. He is interested in incorporating new sustainable habits into humans' lifestyles.

He strongly believes that the vast increase in population in the recent years has marginalized the availability of resources. Hence, we should lead by example and take action to control the over expenditure of resources by applying sustainable measures to our everyday life.
On a personal level, the current AIChE president is interested in developing the oil & gas sector and assisting in its move towards a cleaner way of drilling and extraction making this extraction process sustainable on the long term.
A very active student, he is also Treasurer of IAESTE, and an Undergraduate Research Assistant with Dr. Alissar Yehya.
His personal interests include travelling, self-development, volunteering, learning new languages, football, photography, and interior design

Dana Osman comes from Ivory Coast, Africa. She is a French educated, third year chemical engineering student at AUB.

During her stay in Africa, she was involved in many humanitarian NGOs to help the most disadvantaged ones, whether in terms of clothing, food or even education.

Gladly joining this project, she  believes that we have done enough harm to our environment by wasting our natural resources and by relying on sustainable energy and life style , we might possibly help with the reduction of pollution and fight climate change.

Her internship in the Bayer industry helped her realize her desire to do a master degree in the pharmaceutical industry and try to incorporate a sustainable behavior in that sector.

On a personal level, she's addicted to makeup and photography. Philosophical works fascinate her and helps her understand a part of the world that we will not be able to decipher without a philosophical culture.

Lynn is a Chemical Engineering student at the American University of Beirut. Among her future career options one sector is in common: sustainability. As per her, "every industry is looking to find ways for a more sustainable future. Global issues such as climate change, overpopulation, freshwater resource reduction, and inequity have recently shown a drastic declining trend. So, how can we meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs? Coming up with efficient and impactful solutions to such a question has really fueled my passion for the topic of sustainable development."

Her other passions lie in the realms of learning about new cultures and travelling to different countries. Also, she loves to sing and play the piano every now and then. Lastly, she likes to end her day by watching the sunset while drinking a cup of tea 🙂
