According to the UN Food and Agricultural Organization, half of all habitable land is used for agriculture. And with the growing global population, food production must increase by 70% before the year 2050 in order to meet global food needs. Vertical farming is a sustainable solution that could help solve some of the pressing challenges facing food production.

What is vertical farming?

Vertical farming is the practice of producing food on vertically inclined surfaces. This practice helps achieve an optimal land usage with no need of pesticides use and a major reduction in labor cost.

Check the below video by SEnLi member Sally Badran on how this practice is shaping the future of Agriculture.

To learn more about this practice, watch an interview that Sally conducted with Mrs. Rita Asmar, the co-founder of GROUND – Vertical Farming, Lebanon.
