Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I have no experience in game development, can I still participate?
A: Of course, the Gaming Academy is open to participants of all levels.
Q: Who can participate?
A: The event is created with a focus on the MENA region, but anyone from an emergent territory, regardless of their level, can participate.
Q: How will I know if I am accepted?
A: The Gaming Academy is open to everybody who signs up. Everybody who signs up will receive an email prior to our starting date with further information. If you didn’t receive an email, check your spam, or if that didn’t work message us on any social media platform, and we’ll be sure to help you out.
Q: Is the Gaming Academy free?
A: Yes, the Gaming Academy is free of charge for all of our participants.
Q: Am I obligated to attend workshops to pitch a game?
A: Yes, we expect all participants who submit a game to have attended the fundamental course of each track, all courses in at least one track, and most of the general courses.
Q: Am I required to attend all courses?
A: No. The Gaming Academy is divided into five different tracks – art, audio design, development, game design, and storytelling – as well as an array of general courses. Participants will be expected to attend all general courses, and the fundamental course of each of the different tracks, as well as all of the sessions of the track they have chosen.
Q: Can I join multiple tracks?
A: Yes! Participants can partake in as many tracks as they would like.
Q: What if I miss a session?
A: All sessions will be uploaded to YouTube soon after they have been given.
Q: Will there be homework?
A: Yes, some educators will provide you with an assignment in order to practice what you learned. These assignments can also be useful to share with others when you’re trying to form a team.
Q: What if we can’t finish our game?
A: This event is first and foremost an educative one, we will help and support you in every way that we can to get you to the finish line, but you have no obligation towards us to finish your game.
Q: Can I work with more than one team?
A: You are free to do so, but we recommend that you stick to one team, for your own sake.
