The Power Electronics Advanced Research Laboratory (PEARL) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) was established in the Fall of 2018. The main focus of the lab is power electronics, a continuously emerging and growing area with applications in renewable energy systems, electrified transportation systems, manufacturing and automation, robotics, building technologies, and many others. PEARL addresses the design, modeling, control, and optimization of power electronic systems, with focus on electric motor drives, solar photovoltaic and wind interfacing, microgrids, and diagnostics, prognostics, and recovery.
