Our Story

Since opening in 2019, the Red Room  has served as a hub for collaborative design and 3D printing at the American University of Beirut. Its goal is to enable the design, development, and actualization of ideas, from software to the real world. Students, staff, and faculty from across AUB have access to the Red Room and collaborate with the JEDIs on a wide range of projects.

The Red Room acts as both an educational resource as well as a focal point for design and engineering on campus. It is equipped with 3D printers, hand-tools, electronics work stations, and a variety of materials for our members to use.

Students from all majors can use the Red Room as a space to transform their ideas into reality. It allows members to build skills through hands-on projects and collaborating with each other. From undergraduate course projects and FYPs to PHD and Master’s projects, the Red Room supports interdisciplinary activities at all levels, enabling all types of student-led collaborative projects.

For more information on our equipment and trainings, see the Available Equipment page and Workshops & Trainings. Check out our Media page to see some of the cool projects that have come through our doors.
