Workshop Description:
Working in groups has been widely used to engage students in meaningful collaborative problem-solving in face-to-face classrooms. When teaching remotely, it is hard to engage students in effective online collaborative problem-solving activities that ensure the active participation of students in the learning processes. In this workshop, the presenter will share resources and tools with Middle and High school teachers so they can design and implement online collaborative problem-solving activities that can engage students in group learning and applications of concepts from different disciplines. Together, we will discuss ways to provide groups with feedback and support as they work on these activities synchronously and asynchronously. We will also explore ways to assess the impact of a collaborative problem-solving activity on students’ learning.
