ACCREDITATIONS AND COLLABORATIONS

The BMT program received the JACIE accreditation in 2016, being the only internationally accredited program in Lebanon and one of eight worldwide outside Europe and North America.

  • The AUBMC BMT program is an official member (number CIC369) of the European Blood and Marrow Transplantation Group (EBMT).

 

  • The program received the prestigious JACIE accreditation in 2016, being the only internationally accredited program in Lebanon, one of two in the Middle East and North Africa region one of eight worldwide outside Europe and North America.
LOCAL COLLABORATIONS

The BMT program acts as a referral center for stem cell therapy to all university and non-university medical centers on a national level across Lebanon.

REGIONAL COLLABORATIONS

The Bone Marrow Transplantation program has also established regional and international collaborations with sister institutions that enhance teaching, training, management of cases and research activities.

  • Shared clinic pathways and protocols for standardized patient care
  • Annual Scientific Conference “Connecting through research” that focus on site specific topics
  • Staff exchange programs
  • Consultative activity pertinent to specific complex cases
  • Shared research projects in multi-central studies.
INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS

International collaborations include three premier comprehensive cancer centers: the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas in the United States, the Hôpital Saint Antoine in Paris, France, and the Institut Paoli-Calmettes – in Marseilles, France.

MD Anderson Cancer Center:
The BMT program’s affiliation with MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) started in June 2007 to include several areas of collaboration that are not limited to:

  • Physician education and training:
    • Joint Multidisciplinary Tumor boards
    • Elective Observership for fellows
    • Advanced fellowship training
    • Joint Scientific conferences and meetings
  • Patient care level:
    • Exchange of protocols to provide the most updated treatments and patient care.
  • Research collaboration:
    • Many joint publications have been published in all oncology areas
  • Nursing and other technical support staff training:
    • Nursing staff and technical staff are going to MD Anderson for specific training.
  • Attendance by a delegation at the annual Global Academics Programs (GAP) conference:
    • Work is in line with GAP International goals
