Colorectal Cancer Collaborative Initiative:

This collaborative Initiative was launched on March 2017 and completed in April 2018. It focused on:

Cancer awareness with a special consideration for Colorectal cancer (CRC), its screening, and prevention. Awareness advocacy was mainly achieved through lectures, health events, population targeted engaging activities, sharing educational materials, as well as providing free screening tests all over Lebanon (Saida, Tripoli, Beirut, Akkar, El Shouf). More than 12 awareness events were hosted in different locations in Lebanon where   more than 700 free CRC screening tests were secured and distributed to eligible people, especially those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This campaign was  successful of this campaign thanks to the collaborative effort of all involved parties with CPCP, NKBCI and NGO AMALOUNA from AUB as Initiative coleaders, the  Health and Wellness center, NGO Sanabel El Nour, with Al Hamidi hospital in Tripoli as a main partner as well as El – Yussef hospital and Centre Saint Paul Medico Social in Akkar, Abou Merhi charity community health clinics in Saida and Ain Wazein Hospital in Shouf.

The outcome of these activities led to our participation at the World cancer Congress 2018 in Kuala Lumpur where Dr. Nasr presented a poster   published in the journal of Global Oncology about the effect of the giant inflatable colon in enhancing the community knowledge and intention for colorectal cancer screening. She also presented “A collaborative Initiative to raise awareness about colorectal cancer and to encourage CRC screening” that was among the 3 collaborations selected to be presented at UICC out of 11 submissions from the Middle East and North Africa region and based on a scoring process.
